Help Feed Us: A message from the Panthera Africa PrideOur entire sanctuary has been in lockdown here in South Africa since 26 March 2020. While we’re managing to make do with fewer helping hands by working harder and longer, we can’t manage without food for our animals. It costs around R1,400 every month to feed one animal at Panthera Africa – and with 28 wild animals in our care, you can imagine how that quickly adds up. I’m hoping you’ll reach out to our big cats today, because they urgently need your help.
Covid-19 Appeal for donationsCathrine and Lizaene have an important message and they would like your help. We are grateful for everything you have done so far. A huge roaring thank you from the pride and wishing you good health and happiness!

HAPPY LIONSWe are honored and forever blessed to be entrusted with the care of these two beautiful little warriors. Thank you to NSPCA - National Council of SPCAs for trusting us to love and care for them.
Thank you to Dr Peter Caldwell and the staff at Old Chapel Veterinary Clinic for giving Karlos and Ivana the life-saving treatment and compassion they so desperately needed, and for believing they could pull through.
These two cubbies have crawled and tumbled their way into our hearts and we have vowed to give them the very best care possible. We love you so much Karlos and Ivana! It is a privilege to watch you grow stronger every day!
Galaxy ArrivalWow! Galaxy made it home.
Big shout out to our volunteers over the past few months who helped set up Galaxy's new home! His first few days were spent exploring and lounging on his soft sand under the shade of his pine trees.
Another big thank you for all who supported and donated to the travel and care of Galaxy! Remember it's never too late to contribute! If you would like to send Galaxy a homecoming gift please follow this link: https://pantheraafrica.com/donate/
Our veterinarian will be coming out next week to check out Galaxy's tail and make sure he is 100%!
Galaxy's back story:
Today we would like to tell you about Galaxy, a beautiful white lion. When Galaxy was just a little older than a cub, he was used in the film industry. As you can imagine the filming process is very stressful and at times traumatic for any animal and Galaxy did not have an easy start to his life.
Thankfully he was rescued by Michele Higginson with his mate, Matilda, and another lioness, Saturn and relocated to a sanctuary. For eleven years the three lived a contented and serene life, with very little interference and happy in their pride.
In the space of two years, Galaxy lost both his mates, Matilda and Saturn, and lost all zest for life. Those of you who have lost someone close to you will understand what Galaxy felt. He became so lonely that he started to chew his tail, and as a result it had to be amputated. Unfortunately this has turned into a habit, and he needs special care and more enrichment in his life.
We have a beautiful enclosure for Galaxy with a dedicated team to give him his daily medicines and provide as much enrichment as he needs.
Galaxy weighs about 200kg and will need 30kg of food per week. The total monthly food bill is R6,000 a month and his medicines R2,000 a month. We are asking all our friends and supporters to please donate towards Galaxy’s care: a total of R24,000 is needed to cover the first three months.
If you are able, you can adopt Galaxy by making a monthly contribution. You will receive a beautiful certificate that you can print and display.
Dr Brendan Tindall from Robberg Veterinarian Clinic has donated his time, services and resources to do the relocation of Galaxy.
Our deepest gratitude to you if you are able to adopt or simply share this message with your friends.
Thank you for opening your heart and giving Galaxy the life he deserves.
