What We Do

Big cats are under threat in the wild, and being exploited in captivity. Many tourists and volunteers are unaware of what is truly happening to these big cats..

Panthera Africa is an educational platform where we, together with our big cats, will educate you about each species and their individual uniqueness..

Panthera Africa strongly believes that everyone can make a difference, which is what we will seek to do for the thousands of big cats in need of a safe..
Panthera Africa are proud to be the blueprint for future-forward thinking. We are a source of inspiration to everyone as our story carries a powerful..
We believe that only if we unite, can we truly make a difference. The challenges that the big cat and wildlife industry are facing are too profound to overcome alone, so by standing together..

“Until the Story of the hunt is told by the Lion, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” – African Proverb

What We Offer

One of Panthera Africa’s main purposes is to be an educational platform where we create awareness about conditions big cats face in captivity, and how animal welfare and enrichment play a vital role in giving them the best captive life possible. We are a true sanctuary where no hands-on interaction, breeding or trading takes place. We are a blue print of how a non-profit sanctuary, focusing on animal welfare, can become self-sufficient, and we aim to change breeding facilities into sustainable ethical projects.

About Us

The name Panthera Africa is inspired by the passion Lizaene and Cathrine have for the four pantheras; panthera leo – the lion, panthera pardus – the leopard, panthera onca – the jaguar and panthera tigris – the tiger.
